THE FRUITLESS FIG TREE
Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any. So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’
‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.’
I love my dad,
Dad: Can I borrow that wireless adaptor you bought from HK to see if it works on the new TV?
Me: Yah, I dont need it any more now that my laptop is fixed. Hey! I will sell it to you for £5!! (said as a joke)
Dad: ¬.¬ *took adaptor and walked off*
~ 2 minutes later~
Dad: It doesnt work on the TV *hands me £5*
Me: LOOOOL dad I was joking about the £5!!
Bless him, he was actually going to buy this adaptor off me when he doesnt even have a use for it himself.
Even though I demanded the £5 as a joke, he was still willing to fulfil such a ridiculous request. Him being the financial provider of my life owes me nothing yet he was willing to carry our such an unfair exchange… all for a little wireless adaptor that he was just going to keep in the drawers.
Reminds me a little of my Father in Heaven. I would make unreasonable requests and yet He is still quick to say yes even though He owes me nothing. My dad might not be the kinda man to talk about God in the family, but he sure displays the love of my heavenly Father. The kind of love that lets me know that I’m valued and highly treasured.
Thanks Daddy 🙂
